The scanner's high resolution is ideal for scanning both photos and documents and its 48-bit color depth and 3.2 Dmax provide accurate color rendition for all your scans. The Epson Perfection V370 Photo Scanner features a 4800dpi optical resolution and a CCD sensor with ReadyScan LED technology. I've used lots of Epson equipment and have always been very satisfied. This had me chasing my tail for a bit so just fair warning.

Epson uses 0 as 0% _compression_ (i.e., max file data) with 100 being max compression. I can't think of any reason why this couldn't be expanded.Īlso, other software I've used sets JPG quality with 0 as lowest and 100 as best (but also largest file size). The "loss" is about 1/8-inch or 3mm, so it is not inconsequential.

The scanning does NOT reach to the edges of the glass bed and the lost scan is greater at the three edges (top, bottom & hinge-side) you're most likely to use for alignment of the material.

While I rate it at 5-stars, there are a few aspects I would like to see improved or changed. The Epson V370 has proven great for this purpose. While my printer has a scanner, I wanted a slightly larger size but still compact enough to put on my desk so I could scan easily while also doing some other work. I've just received a lot of old family materials that I want to scan for my purposes before offering the "hard copies" to other family members who might want to actually store them.
